Martins Otse, known on social media as VeryDarkMan, has been granted bail of N2 million with two sureties of the same amount after being charged with impersonation. The court also required him to surrender his international passports and other identification documents.
VeryDarkMan was arrested for impersonation following a widely shared video in which he appeared in a police uniform. The police had previously condemned his unauthorized use of official uniforms and accessories in the video posted on his social media last Thursday.
According to a statement shared with by Otse’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, the bail conditions are as follows: N2 million with two sureties in the same amount, who must submit their international passports and identification, as well as affidavits ensuring the defendant’s presence at trial. The prosecutor is to verify the sureties’ addresses, and they must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, specifically in Abuja, with proof of residency through utility bills.
