Rapper Cardi B has fiercely responded to Elon Musk after the billionaire and Trump supporter labeled her a “puppet” following her speech endorsing Kamala Harris.
During her appearance at an event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the 32-year-old rapper criticized Donald Trump, citing his controversial statement, “I’m going to do it whether the women like it or not. I am going to protect them.” Trump had been advised by his aides to avoid using the term “protector” on the campaign trail, as it was deemed “inappropriate.”
Cardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar Cephus, directly addressed Trump, saying, “Donnie Dunk, please. If his definition of protection isn’t the freedom of choice, if it’s ensuring our daughters have fewer rights than our mothers, then I don’t want it.” Her speech faced technical setbacks when the teleprompters failed, leaving her momentarily alone on stage until she was eventually handed a phone with her speech.
Musk mocked Cardi B by sharing the video and calling her “Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words,” criticizing the Kamala Harris campaign as lacking “authenticity or true empathy.” In her reply, Cardi B shot back, asserting, “I’m not a puppet, Elon. I’m the daughter of two immigrant parents who had to work hard to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, section 8, poverty, and what happens when the system is set up against you… But you don’t know anything about that.” She added, “You don’t know one thing about the American struggle… PS, fix my algorithm.”
