Cassandre Jacques, the representative of San Juan de la Maguana in the Miss World Dominican pageant, has decided to withdraw due to controversy over her nationality.
In a heartfelt statement, she shared that after careful consideration, she felt stepping down was the right choice, despite the emotional difficulty of making such a decision.
“With a heart full of mixed emotions, I want to announce that I’ve decided to withdraw from the Miss World Dominican pageant. This dream, which I’ve embraced with enthusiasm, effort, and dedication, has been one of the most significant experiences of my life,” Jacques said.
She expressed gratitude to her supporters and looked forward to future opportunities, hoping to continue receiving their encouragement in new endeavors.
Her withdrawal has sparked discussions on social media concerning her Haitian roots and identity issues within beauty pageants.
The Miss World Dominican organization has not yet issued a statement on the matter.
