Sean “Diddy” Combs has again proposed a $50 million bail package in an attempt to secure his release from a Brooklyn jail, where he has been held for eight weeks on charges related to criminal sex trafficking.
His legal team, led by attorney Alexandra Shapiro, has offered his $48 million Miami home as collateral, along with promises from family members to co-sign the bond.
Since his arrest, Combs has been denied bail three times, with judges citing concerns about potential witness tampering. Combs, who has pleaded not guilty, faces accusations of using his entertainment company to facilitate the transportation of individuals for recorded sexual performances. However, he maintains that all activities were consensual.
Recently, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian rejected Combs’ request to limit public discussions about the case. Shapiro argued that Combs needs better access to trial preparation materials, particularly given the harsh jail conditions, such as lockdowns and restricted access to a laptop. His defense claims that new evidence weakens the prosecution’s case and that his detention is infringing on his right to a fair trial.
The trial is scheduled for May 5.
