Korean actor Song Jae Rim was found dead in his Seoul apartment on November 12. Authorities confirmed the discovery after a friend, arriving for a planned lunch, alerted the police around 12:30 p.m. at his residence in the Seongdong District.
A two-page letter was found at the scene, but police reported no signs of foul play and have ruled out suspicion of murder or other crimes.
His family has expressed a wish for a small, private funeral with only close family members present.
Born in 1985, Song started his career as a model before transitioning to acting, debuting in the 2009 film Actresses.
He rose to fame for his role as Kim Je-woon, a stoic warrior, in the 2012 drama The Moon Embracing the Sun.
Over the years, he appeared in various TV series like Flower Boy Ramen Shop, Inspiring Generation, and Let Me Hear Your Song, as well as films such as Grand Prix and The Suspect. His popularity also grew through his participation in the variety show We Got Married with actress Kim So-eun in 2014, where they won awards for Best New Actor and Best Couple.
Song worked independently without an agency, limiting public information about his recent projects. His last TV roles included appearances in My Secret Romance and Empress Woo earlier this year. He also showcased his acting in theater, with his final performance in the musical The Rose of Versailles on October 13.
A funeral service will be held at Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital funeral hall, with the ceremony scheduled for November 14 at noon.
The family has chosen the Seoul Metropolitan Crematorium for his burial. The service will remain private, in line with the family’s wishes for an intimate farewell.
