Wayne Northrop, the actor famous for his roles on Days of Our Lives and Dynasty, has passed away at 77.
He died on Friday, surrounded by his family, six years after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s, as confirmed by his wife, Lynn Herring Northrop.
In her statement, she remembered Wayne for his humor, wit, and the deep love he had for his family. He was a devoted husband for 43 years, a loving father to his sons Hank and Grady, and a rancher with a passion for his cows and friendships.
Northrop portrayed detective Roman Brady on Days of Our Lives from 1981 to 1984 and again from 1991 to 1994. He also played Dr. Alex North starting in 2005 and appeared in over 1,000 episodes of the soap until 2006.
Additionally, he starred as Michael Culhane on Dynasty and Rex Stanton on Port Charles. His acting career also included roles on shows like Police Story, The Waltons, Eight is Enough, Cold Case, and L.A. Law.
A passionate conservationist, Northrop, along with his wife, ran a cattle ranch in Raymond, California, for 35 years, committed to environmental causes.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, and his stepmother.
