The Gotham Awards celebrating Excellence in Independent Cinema. Founded in 1991, the Gotham Awards honor exceptional achievements in independent filmmaking. Hosted annually in New York City, also known as “Gotham,” these awards highlight innovation and emerging talent, playing a pivotal role in the awards season and often influencing Oscar predictions.

Initially focusing on films from the northeastern U.S., the Gotham Awards have grown to recognize international talent, showcasing the global impact of independent cinema.
