An Uber spokesperson announced that riders can expect a 25% increase in ride prices due to new changes, but drivers haven’t seen a pay raise yet.
Uber and Lyft driver Said Mohamed explained that since payroll closes on Sundays, the pay adjustments won’t be reflected until the new week starts on Monday.
Uber shared with drivers that a “partial earnings period” will apply for Sunday, December 1, 2024. Lyft also confirmed that it is tracking driver earnings in Minnesota to ensure compliance with the new law.
While Mohamed understands that riders will pay more, he’s eager for his earnings to increase, as the new rate will raise his pay from 65 cents to $1.28 per mile — a 25-30% increase.
This change comes after a delay in implementing a city ordinance, which was eventually replaced by a state law signed by Governor Tim Walz that took effect on Sunday.
