Luigi Mangione, the UnitedHealthcare murder suspect, and rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs share an unexpected connection beyond their legal troubles.
Mangione’s attorney, Karen Friedman-Agnifilo, is married to Marc Agnifilo, who represents Combs in his ongoing sex trafficking case.
Friedman-Agnifilo, a former prosecutor, led the sex crimes unit in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for several years before joining her husband’s private law firm, Agnifilo Intrater LLP, in 2021. During her tenure, she also served as second-in-command to District Attorney Cyrus Vance.
Her marital ties have occasionally caused conflicts in her career, leading her to recuse herself from cases her husband’s firm handled, such as Harvey Weinstein’s rape prosecution.
Despite these challenges, Friedman-Agnifilo has earned a reputation as a skilled attorney, having led investigations into high-profile allegations, including sexual harassment claims against Seton Hall’s former board chairman, which were later deemed unsubstantiated.
Legal experts say it’s no surprise she was chosen to handle Mangione’s high-profile case.
