Fans cranked up the volume on Christmas Day as Beyoncé took center stage during halftime of the Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens game. The show marked her live debut of songs from her country album Cowboy Carter, beginning with a grand entrance on a white horse as she performed “16 Carriages.”
The performance, streamed on Netflix, was part of the platform’s Christmas NFL doubleheader, which also featured Mariah Carey opening the event with a recorded rendition of her iconic holiday hit, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Netflix dubbed the concert the “Beyoncé Bowl” in a post on X, while game attendees shared photos of light-up wristbands distributed beforehand.
Leading up to the event, Beyoncé teased the hometown performance through social media posts amplified by Netflix. On Christmas Eve, she humorously addressed Netflix’s past live-streaming issues in a video, prompting the platform to temporarily update its X bio to “roasted by beyoncé 12.24.24.”
Released on March 29, Cowboy Carter debuted atop the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts, making Beyoncé the first Black woman to lead the latter. It also secured her eighth consecutive No. 1 studio album and earned 11 Grammy nominations, including Album and Record of the Year.
Earlier this month, Beyoncé broke the record for the most certified titles by a female artist, with Texas Hold ‘Em, the lead single from Cowboy Carter, achieving double platinum status. Billboard named her the greatest pop star of the 21st century, highlighting her unmatched versatility, followed by Taylor Swift.
