Gordon Ramsay seems to be experiencing his own Kitchen Nightmares as one of his restaurants abruptly shut down following a wave of negative reviews.
The Kensington Street location of his UK chain, Street Burger, recently closed, with photos circulating online showing the former Ramsay-branded storefront now rebranded as Burger & Lobster. The windows are covered with brown paper, indicating possible renovations, while the restaurant’s website now returns a 404 error.
Despite the closure, online review pages remain filled with harsh criticism, with customers slamming the restaurant for “bad taste, bad service, bad size, bad price—bad everything.” Before shutting down, the location had a disappointing 3.5-star rating on Tripadvisor.
The final review, posted on Jan. 5, 2025, was titled “Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad” and questioned whether the restaurant’s issues stemmed from Ramsay’s own recipes, urging him to “wake up!” Other reviews echoed similar frustrations, with one diner stating they had “never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant,” while others complained about “outrageously expensive” burgers with “tiny portions.”
One reviewer admitted they “felt ripped off,” describing the room as “so dark I could barely see my cold, expensive but tasty burger.” Many others were frustrated with long wait times, reporting that their food took over an hour to arrive—only to be served cold.
Some still praised the food’s flavor, but many criticized the inattentive service. “Gordon, you need to get down there and sort this restaurant out!” one reviewer urged, questioning why a half-empty burger joint was so poorly managed.
