Wendy Williams has officially taken steps to end her guardianship. On Wednesday, February 12, she signed an affidavit requesting that a judge remove her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrisey, according to reports.
Williams claims she has “regained capacity” and is no longer suffering from frontotemporal dementia, which she was diagnosed with last year.
Reports indicate that Williams is set for a reevaluation by a doctor on Tuesday, February 18. The doctor has been chosen by her attorney, who is seeking to terminate her guardianship. Following the evaluation, Williams’ legal team plans to file an “Emergency Order to Show Cause” to compel the judge to make a decision on whether the guardianship will continue. If the request is denied, they intend to push for a jury trial.
Williams also addressed the situation on the “2 Angry Men” podcast, rejecting the notion that she is incapable of functioning without guardianship. She spoke about her son, Kevin Hunt Jr., whose actions led to the court-appointed guardianship, stating he “overstepped” financial boundaries, which resulted in Wells Fargo freezing her accounts. She claimed that her son misused her money without her knowledge, which led to the guardianship being put in place.
While she acknowledged that her son is a good person, she criticized his actions, expressing frustration over what she believes is inappropriate behavior and spending, particularly concerning her Miami apartment and issues with Wells Fargo.
