Shakira has been hospitalized in Lima, Peru, leading to the postponement of her scheduled concert on Sunday, February 16, as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour.
In a statement shared on her Instagram Stories, the global star explained that she was admitted to the emergency room due to an abdominal condition and is currently under medical care. “The doctors treating me have advised that I am not in a condition to perform tonight,” Shakira wrote, referring to her planned show at Estadio Nacional in Lima.
Expressing her disappointment, she added, “I’m heartbroken that I can’t take the stage today. I was eagerly looking forward to reuniting with my beloved Peruvian fans. I hope to recover quickly and be discharged soon so I can deliver the show I’ve been preparing for you all.”
She assured fans that efforts were underway to reschedule the concert. “Our plan is to hold this show as soon as possible. My team and the promoter are working on setting a new date,” she wrote, thanking her supporters for their understanding and signing off with, “I love you very much.”
Shakira kicked off her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro, followed by a show in São Paulo on February 13. Lima was set to be her next stop before heading to Colombia, where she is still scheduled to perform in Barranquilla on February 21.
