Nick Cannon has reportedly avoided making official child support payments for his 13-year-old twins with Mariah Carey since their divorce nearly a decade ago. However, there are reports that Carey is now pushing for that to change.
“Nick has managed to keep his money in his pocket, but Mariah wants him to start contributing,” an insider revealed. Despite fathering nine more children with five different women since his split from Carey, the comedian and TV host, 44, has claimed he has never been court-ordered to pay child support for any of his 11 kids. While he insists that he provides for his children whenever needed, sources say he has never given Carey or his other co-parents a set monthly allowance.
Carey, whose career once far outpaced Cannon’s with 19 No. 1 hits, reportedly overlooked child support payments in the past. However, with her lavish lifestyle—including an $18 million loan against her $30 million NYC penthouse and extravagant monthly expenses—financial pressures may be mounting.
Meanwhile, Cannon’s success in stand-up comedy and other ventures has increased his net worth to an estimated $50 million, surpassing Carey’s current earnings. Insiders claim that Carey is now seeking legally structured child support payments, partly to demonstrate consistent income to creditors. However, this has led to friction between the former couple, as Cannon allegedly prefers handling financial support informally rather than through legal channels.
