Jake Paul, the YouTube star-turned-boxer, and his Olympic speed skater girlfriend, Jutta Leerdam, got engaged on Friday. The couple shared the exciting news with a joint Instagram post on Saturday, showcasing photos from the proposal the day before.
In one image, Paul proposed to Leerdam amidst a stunning backdrop of white flowers and candles, with a surprised Leerdam covering her mouth. Another photo captured her jumping for joy, while a third showed her proudly displaying her engagement ring. Both dressed in all-white, the couple celebrated with a kiss, tossing flower petals into the air and soaking in the moment. Paul captioned the post, “We’re engaged. We can’t wait to spend forever together.” The following day, they posted a video of the proposal set to Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful,” with the caption, “The most magical day of our lives,” and a date of March 21, 2025.
Paul and Leerdam first met in 2023 when Paul reached out to her on social media and invited her to his podcast. Later that year, they made their relationship Instagram official, with Paul posting photos of the two holding hands and captioning the post with “I’m Dutch now,” tagging Leerdam. In an October interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paul shared his ambition to see both of them at the peak of their careers by 2026, with Leerdam winning a gold medal and Paul claiming the cruiserweight boxing title. Ahead of his Netflix fight with Mike Tyson, which broke records despite technical issues, Leerdam expressed her pride in Paul’s rapid progress in boxing. “The progression Jake has made is not normal,” she said. “Other athletes make small progressions each year, but Jake makes huge strides, and I trust his skills.”
The couple’s next venture will be starring together in the new Max reality show, Paul American, premiering Thursday. The show will also feature Logan Paul’s fiancée, Nina Agdal. In the trailer, Leerdam says of Paul, “We both want to become champions. We bring out the best in each other.”
