Tamar Braxton is prioritizing her health by taking PrEP, an anti-HIV medication, as she navigates Atlanta’s fast-paced dating scene. In a recent social media video, the Grammy-nominated singer shared her decision to use pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to reduce the risk of contracting HIV and promote self-protection in modern relationships.
At 47, Tamar made it clear she’s approaching dating on her own terms. “I’m not doing what everyone else is doing… Y’all are dating and sharing the same man,” she said candidly. “I’m a one-woman man, and I’m not sharing my man with the streets. But I’m on PrEP, and I encourage everyone to get on PrEP—be prepared for the streets.”
Living in Atlanta, a city known for its complex dating scene, Tamar recognizes the challenges of forming genuine connections. She stressed the importance of being cautious and looking out for oneself. “People don’t always play fair, and you have to be careful,” she noted. “But I’m out here trying, and I’m making sure I take care of myself along the way.”
Her comments follow her split from ex-fiancé Jeremy “JR” Robinson, whom she accused of infidelity in 2024. Previously, she was married to music producer Vincent Herbert from 2008 to 2019, also alleging infidelity in that relationship. Now, Tamar is approaching love with caution, self-awareness, and a proactive focus on her health.
Beyond dating, Tamar has long been an advocate for physical and mental wellness. She has openly discussed her struggles with anxiety, depression, and her 2020 suicide attempt, becoming a vocal proponent of therapy and mental health awareness, particularly within the Black community. Her transparency about PrEP highlights the importance of sexual health and encourages open conversations about self-care in modern relationships.
