Action star Jean-Claude Van Damme is reportedly facing allegations of having s*x with five trafficked Romanian women during a TV series launch party in Cannes in 2015.
According to legal documents obtained by The Telegraph, Romanian authorities may open a criminal investigation following a complaint filed on April 2. The complaint claims the women were “given” to Van Damme at the event, which was allegedly connected to Romanian modeling agency boss and suspected trafficker Morel Bolea.
One woman told investigators that she and others believed they were attending a film festival event, only to find it was a private party celebrating Van Damme’s show. She alleged that five women from the Fashion TV team were sent to Van Damme by one of the organizers. It remains unclear whether Van Damme knew the women were being trafficked.
Van Damme’s agent, Patrick Goavec, has dismissed the allegations as “absurd” and “unfounded,” stating the actor would not comment further. Romanian lawyer Adrian Cuculis, who filed the complaint on behalf of another alleged trafficking victim, claims the women were “offered” to Van Damme and emphasizes the exploitative context of the situation.
The Romanian anti-organized crime unit DIICOT, which is also handling the Andrew Tate case, has confirmed receiving the complaint but declined further comment.
The investigation now forms part of a broader probe into Bolea’s alleged trafficking network, active between 2000 and 2016.
Bolea, arrested in 2022, has yet to respond to the new claims.
The accusations against Van Damme fall under Article 216 of Romania’s criminal code, relating to the use of services from an exploited person.
