Taylor Swift has been issued a subpoena to testify in the legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni concerning alleged behind-the-scenes issues during the production of It Ends with Us.
According to Swift’s representative, the singer had no substantial involvement with the film beyond licensing her song “My Tears Ricochet” for use in the soundtrack. “Taylor never visited the set, had no part in the film’s creative or casting decisions, didn’t contribute to editing, and only watched the movie weeks after its public release,” according to the spokesperson, adding that the singer was on a global tour throughout 2023 and 2024. The representative claimed the subpoena is being used to generate sensational media attention, calling it “tabloid clickbait.”
Sources say Hugh Jackman may also be subpoenaed, but others close to the case assert that neither he nor Swift had any insider knowledge of the situation. The speculation is seen by some as a distraction from the misconduct accusations facing Baldoni. Notably, Swift is the godmother of Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ children and has frequently been seen in public with the couple.
The lawsuit began when Lively accused Baldoni, her It Ends with Us co-star and director, of sexual harassment and unprofessional behavior, claiming he retaliated against her when she raised concerns.
Baldoni has denied the accusations and filed a countersuit in January, alleging defamation and extortion against Lively, Reynolds, and their PR team. His legal filing includes a claim that Swift and Reynolds pressured him to accept Lively’s rewrites of the script during a meeting at the couple’s home, implying Swift’s praise for the script served as indirect influence. Baldoni also alleges that Reynolds mocked him in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film.
The trial, combining both lawsuits, is scheduled for March 2026 under the case Lively v. Wayfarer Studios et al.
