The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is a platform that recognizes outstanding achievements in television and film.
Hosted by MultiChoice, the 10th edition of the AMVCA took place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Here’s a recap of the top Nollywood actors who have received the most AMVCA awards:
1. Funke Akindele – With an impressive six AMVCA wins, Funke Akindele’s talent spans both comedy and drama.
She holds the record for the most awards as Best Actress in a Comedy. Akindele received nominations in 2024 for her role in “A Tribe Called Judah” and for Best Writing in a Movie.
2. Osas Ighodaro – This Nollywood star has secured three AMVCA awards, showcasing her exceptional acting skills.
Notable wins include Best Actress in a Movie/Drama Series for “Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story” (2022) and Best Actress in a Movie/Drama for “Man of God” (2023).
3. Rita Dominic – A powerhouse in Nigeria’s film industry, Rita Dominic has won three AMVCA awards. Her performances in “The Meeting” and “76” were recognized with accolades at previous AMVCAs.
4. Falz – Folarin Falana, known as Falz, is celebrated for his success in music and film. He has claimed two AMVCAs, notably for his role in “Jenifa’s Diary” (2016) and as Best Supporting Actor in “New Money” (2018).
5. Broda Shaggi – Comedian Samuel Perry, aka Broda Shaggi, is a two-time AMVCA winner for his roles in “Dwindle” (2022) and “Inside Life” (2023), both in the Best Actor in a Comedy category.
