American singer Chris Brown has been accused of sexual assault in a new documentary titled Chris Brown: A History of Violence, which examines claims against him, including an allegation from an anonymous woman regarding an incident on music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs’ yacht in 2020.
The documentary features a woman, referred to as “Jane Doe,” who shared her experience, stating, “Even coming forward as a Jane Doe, some people still found out who I was. I hope to shed light on what really happened.” She mentioned receiving death threats after coming forward.
The woman recounted a trip to Miami in 2020, where a friend invited her to Diddy’s yacht, where she allegedly met Brown. She described being given a drink by him, which made her feel increasingly disoriented. She said, “I remember lying back and thinking, ‘Why can’t I get up?’ Next thing I know he was on top of me, and I couldn’t move. I said ‘No,’ and then he… I was so disgusted.”
In her statement to People, Doe emphasized that no evidence disproved her claims and urged people to stop shaming victims or labeling them as liars due to their admiration for artists.
Additionally, another woman, Liziane Gutierrez, who previously accused Brown of assaulting her in 2016, spoke out for the first time on Instagram, sharing her experience in the documentary. She expressed her struggle with the potential repercussions of participating, including financial implications from a non-disclosure agreement, but felt it was important to share her story. Gutierrez stated, “We can’t be against domestic violence and simply ignore some cases or blame the victim.”
The documentary, which also investigates allegations against Brown from other women, including Rihanna and Karrueche Tran, aired on October 27. Brown’s lawyers have denied the claims made by Doe, calling the allegations in the documentary “malicious and false.”
