Hudson Joseph Meek, a teenage actor known for his role in Baby Driver, passed away at the age of 16 following a tragic accident. Meek was reportedly ejected from a moving vehicle last week in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed he suffered blunt force trauma after falling from the vehicle at 10:45 p.m. He was rushed to UAB Hospital in Birmingham but succumbed to his injuries less than 48 hours later, on Saturday night.
The Vestavia Hills Police Department is investigating the circumstances of the incident. According to his obituary, Meek passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family.
Meek rose to fame portraying the younger version of the main character in the 2017 film Baby Driver. His acting career began in 2014 with a role in The Santa Con alongside Melissa Joan Hart and Jaleel White. He later appeared in the MacGyver reboot and made guest appearances on shows like NBC’s Found. Meek also completed work on several projects set to release posthumously in 2025.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, his family shared: “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
A celebration of Meek’s life will be held on December 28. In his honor, his family is establishing the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded annually to a student at Vestavia Hills High School.
Meek is survived by his parents, Derek Firth Meek and Lani Wells Meek; his older brother, Tucker Firth Meek; and his grandmothers, Margaret Green Meek and Faye Searcy Wells.
