Music producer Benny Blanco recently shared that during the early days of his relationship with Selena Gomez, the singer would wait in her car outside his house for up to 30 minutes before their dates.
Speaking on the Table Manners podcast with Jessie Ware and her mother Lennie, Blanco said Gomez didn’t realize his security cameras could see her parked outside.
Gomez explained she would arrive early to calm her nerves, touch up her makeup, or call a friend for encouragement, admitting she was anxious because she really liked him.
The two first met 16 years ago through Gomez’s mother, Mandy Teefey, for a music collaboration, though their relationship didn’t turn romantic until the summer of 2023.
Blanco recalled their first kiss happened during a card game on their second date, describing how Gomez became visibly nervous and even developed a rash from excitement.
Gomez reflected on how different this connection felt, having been mostly single for five years, aside from a few lackluster dates.
Blanco proposed in December 2024 during what Gomez thought was a promotional shoot for their joint album I Said I Loved You First. Instead, he surprised her with a Taco Bell-themed picnic and popped the question.
Gomez had first confirmed their relationship publicly a year earlier via a comment on a fan account post, simply writing, “Facts.”
