Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara hosted US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on January 23, kicking off a four-nation Africa tour.
Blinken, arrived in Ivory Coast after visiting Cape Verde, as part of the ten-year U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability.
During the visit, Blinken pledged $45 million to address security challenges in West Africa, supplementing the $300 million previously invested in coastal West Africa.
The funding aims to support stability and combat extremism in the region. President Ouattara expressed gratitude for ongoing U.S. support in health, security, and intelligence.
Blinken’s tour concludes on January 26, 2023.
