AT&T attributed Thursday’s widespread service outage, affecting tens of thousands of customers, to an “incorrect process” employed during network expansion, as stated on the company’s website.
They clarified it was not a cyber attack but an internal issue.
AT&T’s investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Notably, other carriers, including Cricket Wireless, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Boost Mobile, also reported outages.
Cricket Wireless had the highest reported outages, followed by Verizon, T-Mobile, and Boost Mobile. T-Mobile acknowledged challenges reported on DownDetector.com but insisted their systems were operating normally.
