A man convicted of serial bigamy, masquerading as a pastor in small Black churches nationwide, received a three-year prison sentence for marrying at least 10 women for financial gain, as reported by the Christian Post.
Orlando Coleman’s initial marriage was in 2001 to a woman in Virginia.
The 51-year-old traveled extensively, impersonating a pastor or bishop, and wedded nine other women across various states, including Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
In a December 2021 interview with KPRC 2, one of Coleman’s wives revealed they married within a month of meeting because she believed he was a genuine man of God.
These women financially supported Coleman, who left them responsible for his housing, food, and bills.
Coleman’s fraudulent activities began to unravel in 2021 when he married two women within five months, one in Virginia and another in Houston.
Upon discovering his dual marriages, the Houston wife contacted the woman in Virginia, leading to Coleman’s exposure and subsequent bigamy charges.
In July 2023, Coleman confessed to bigamy, a felony in Texas, receiving three years of probation with the opportunity to clear his record.
However, two months later, he married another woman in Kentucky while still married to the Virginia woman.
Prosecutors moved to revoke Coleman’s probation, resulting in a judge imposing a three-year prison sentence this month.
